The species Phyllurus are only found here in Australia.The Northern Leaf tailed gecko has 3 isolated populations down the east coast of Australia .This great looking Gecko is as large as any Gecko being 16 cm in length, with some growing to the length of 25cm.The fact that very few adults are found to still have their original tails shows that the gecko do have enemies,this tree dwelling nocturnal animal has sluggish movements and camouflages well with its surroundings. In appearance it's body looks spikey and has thin clawed fingers (digits)helping it climb over rough surfaces. The female of this species lays 2 soft shelled eggs .
